Week One Is In The Books — And Our Students Nailed It

The first week at York River Academy is always part excitement, part figuring-it-out — and our students handled both beautifully.
Hallways where busy and schedules are new, our students showed up ready. Teachers across the building spent the week seeing a lot of positive things — this group came in respectful, engaged, and willing to jump in.
We had some longer-than-usual bus rides and a few delayed arrivals during the first days. Our transportation team has been adjusting routes and timing all week working to make improvement.
To every student who walked in on day one not quite sure what to expect and walked out on Friday like they'd been here all along: high five. That was a strong start, and it sets up the tone for the rest of the year.
